COUNTRY OF ORIGIN:  England. 

SPECIAL SKILLS:  Family pet. 

SIZE:  The shoulder-height is about 35cm (13 3/4in) and the weight is about 7kg (15 1/2lb). 

COAT:  The short-haired coat can be black, silver, or beige, all with a black mask. 

CARE REQUIRED:  Attend to the facial creases now and then with the special lotion intended for this purpose.  Loose hair can be easily removed with a rubber brush.  When necessary, apply drops to the eyes.  

CHARACTER:  These straightforward pliable dogs are calm indoors, sociable, sensitive, have a well-developed sense of humor, are very affectionate and intelligent, and they are physically demanding of themselves.  Most of them snore.  

TRAINING:  Train them with a gentle-handed approach.  They are sensitive to the tone of your voice so harsh punishment is unnecessary.  

SOCIAL BEHAVIOR:  Pugs get on well with other dogs and pets, and they behave impeccably with both children and visitors.  Do not forget, though, that they require lots of attention and become jealous if their owner ignores them. 

EXERCISE:  When the weather is good these dogs love to romp and play outdoors.  If it is very hot, do not leave them outside for long and make sure they have a cool shady place to spend most of the day.
